THE BRIEF

Our instruction was to assist the client in maximising the benefit of purchasing the run down public house.

After some consultation with Dacorum planning department it was decided that if we could add the two existing bungalow sites to the area of the application it would be looked upon favourably.  Consequently these were purchased and planning submitted for three blocks of a total of 14 flats.

A great deal of negotiation took place regarding design and materials which led to the current scheme being recommended for approval.  However there had been objectors so it was left for the planning Committee to decide. We won the arguments on the night of the Committee and planning was granted.

Our design won an Architects commendation and has been mirrored in other developments around Dacorum since.

The proposal included landscaping and parking arrangements as well as secure access and waste management.
